Films 15/12/05

Saw a few well done and excellent documentaries the past few weeks...(on Netflix)

'Magician' Link - Orson Welles' biography and achievements..

'Particle Fever' Link The amazing story of the Large Hadron Collider built over 20 years to 'prove' the theories of Physicists of the existence of the Higs Boson particle that is believed to be the source of all life in this universe...Then to measure its weight - a clue that there may be multiple universes or only one....The best minds of our world work on this problem....The physicist David Kaplan narrates.  Surprising results....

'Going Clear' Link the scary story of Scientology -

'Monkey Kingdom' Link - Monkeys live in class conscious societies, ruled by upper classes down to the lowest....A low class female struggles to keep her son alive, and through circumstances becomes the Alpha female....How they did this film is a wonder.....

So, although there are many so-so fiction films, and some very fine ones....There seems to be a growing body of docs, many of which are shown on PBS.
