Saw 4 worthwhile films the last weeks....'71 is a riveting thriller set in Belfast...The Catholics, Protestants, Police, and British Army are all split into not so friendly factions - all at each other's throats...A young British soldier is trapped behind the lines and all but his own army outfit want him dead...Over one evening we get a thrilling cat and mouse chase.
The documentary Wrecking Crew is about an adhoc group of studio musicians who provided most of the music for many many Record an Film giant hits....Very interesting.
Welcome to Me is a loony Improve story about a woman on the edge of sanity who wins the lottery, and decides to spend most of the winnings on an Oprah type TV show about herself....The cast and director are all products of the Chicago Improve scene - weird, unbelievable, yet very funny and endearing.
While We're Young is another weird film about a documentary film maker who is in a rut - but when he and his wife meet another young couple (also in the film business) they are drawn into the young couples lives.
Well written and a great cast.
All of the above films (except for the documentary) had great casts with outstanding and unforgettable performances.
