Films 16/02/04

Three amazing, unforgettable films....Way out in left field, but worth your time....

'Blind' Link, a Norwegian film about a women who is now blind...So that she 'remembers'  how to visualize (in her mind), she must practice....
She can feel, but not see, but by practice she can 'see' in her mind....

You never know what is real or imagined in this artful provocative film....She has a vivid, sometimes pornographic imagination.....You may have to see it twice to figure out what really happened....A treasure.

'The Kindergarten Teacher' Link, an Israeli film essentially about Poetry..
A 5 year old writes mature poetry, his Ganenet, herself a poetry student uses his work as her own...

The amazing fact is that this is the real story of the writer/director's early life, before he realized that there was no future in Poetry.....

There is plenty of social criticism, in the film, and I was struck be the Teacher's resemblance to my Daughter in law's Sephardi t family.

'Tangerine' Link, is a story about two transgender black prostitutes....Men living and posturing, dressing and being women....except they have a penis...

There is a lot of ghetto slang, a lot of 'fuck this, fuck that', but it is essentially a human story of coping with the cards that life dealt you..

The director, Sean Baker (remember him), shot this amazing film with an Iphone!!!!!!!!
