Stuff and Films 15/09/25

AS I AGE, I REALIZE THAT:

1. I talk to myself, because sometimes I need expert advice.

2. Sometimes I roll my eyes out loud.

3. I don't need anger management. I need people to stop pissing me off.

4. My people skills are just fine. It's my tolerance of idiots that needs work.

5. The biggest lie I tell myself is "I don't need to write that down, I'll remember it."

6. When I was a child I thought nap time was punishment. Now it's like a mini vacation.

7. The day the world runs out of wine is just too terrible to think about.

8. Even duct tape can't fix stupid, but it can muffle the sound!

9. Wouldn't it be great if we could put ourselves in the dryer for ten minutes; come out wrinkle-free and three sizes smaller.

10. If God wanted me to touch my toes, he would've put them on my knees.

11. When the kids text me "plz" which is shorter than please. I text back "no"  which is shorter than "yes".

12. At my age "Getting lucky" means walking into a room and remembering what I came  in there for.

Films 15/09/16

3 good films this weekend....
Zero Motivation link an Israeli film about the 10 years ago 'corps' of female administrative army workers, who, while in the IDF mainly served coffee and shredded documents. How they coped and lived is a very amusing and interesting story.

What We Do In The Shadows link
A film from New Zealand...A story of a group of vampires who live in the same house, and must share in home upkeep....What with all the blood, bones, fur, etc...it is not an easy task, and some 'older ones' (700 years plus) just don't give a shit about neatness....I laughed almost every single minute of this droll film.
And they had to deal constantly with the threat from Werewolves!!!!  Since they could not use mirrors, they had to rely on others to dress up properly for parties, etc.

Tangerines link an Estonian film about one of the many ethnic conflicts arising from the demise of the Soviet Union....A study of culture, death, ethnic hatred and human compassion....It builds to the amazing last half, which is totally absorbing....

The clarity and brilliance of this underwater ocean scene is the best I've come across...

This post is very funny, it has nothing to do with me or my life style.

Films 15/09/10

I saw an unusual doc last weekend..
'Salt of the Earth' link about a Brazilian photographer who spent 40 years on Humanity type projects...4 or 5 years on a stretch, he lived with and documented the lives of all types of people.  Starting out as an economist, he took up the camera that his wife was using for a project, and instantly knew that the camera was his life's work.....
Working with Doctors Without Borders, he witnessed and documented many horrible events..(Hint - don't look at the massacres, just listen).  All the human brutality led him to abandon his art for many years, but then he found a new calling, - replanting the forests and saving Mother Earth.  An unforgettable film about ann unforgettable artist.  Sebastiao Salgado.
